    Do you have what it takes to engage teachers, help them to identify their strengths, and support them in the development of their CLASS-based interactions?


    Summary:  The MTP™ Coach is responsible for implementing all aspects of the MyTeachingPartner™ coaching model, including: training teachers, implementing bi-weekly cycles with each teacher throughout the program year, individualizing coaching techniques according to teacher goals, maintaining fidelity to the MTP™ research-based model, and providing information to monitor implementation.


    Note: This position will support the implementation of a research study for 4th and 5th grade teachers across the country. However, coaches can be located anywhere in the continental U.S. because the coaching will be provided by phone or video calls. Special considerations for the duties and timing of this contract work are outlined below. Coaches must pass a federal security clearance and CLASS Upper Elementary (UE) reliability in order to coach.


    Work timeline:

    • This is a general timeline. Specific dates will be provided upon receipt of job offer.
    • July 2018:
      • attend CLASS UE Observation and MTP Coach training (TBD)
      • complete reliability testing and follow up mock cycles from the training
      • complete security clearance
    • August 2018/September 2018:
      • conduct teacher trainings in assigned school districts (TBD)
      • travel to and from teacher trainings
      • prepare for cycle work
    • October 2018-May 2019:
      • conduct MTP coaching cycles and complete other duties as assigned

     **This is a contract position**


    • Train and provide ongoing support to teachers as they engage in Teachstone’s professional development program, MyTeachingPartner
    • Coach cohorts of teachers using the MTP™ research-based model
      • Steps include:
        • review and edit teacher video
        • write reflective prompts
        • prepare for conferences
        • participate in conferences by phone or video call with teachers
        • write cycle summaries and action plans
        • provide support with technology (e.g., website usage)
        • follow-up with teachers and provide individual support, as needed
      • Participate in coach supports, including:
        • MTP™ Coaches Training (3 days)
        • Biweekly, one-on-one meetings with a MTP™ Specialist, including receipt of feedback on fidelity to the model and effective coaching strategies
        • Biweekly, coaches’ group meetings
        • Quarterly calibrations on the Upper Elementary CLASS Tool
      • Support study data collection, including timely completion of coaching logs after each coaching session


    • Master’s degree in education or related field
    • 5+ years professional experience in field of elementary education
    • Experience providing professional development and support to education professionals, including one-on-one feedback to teachers based on observations of their teaching
    • Ability to provide feedback that is both directive and supportive
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Adept use of technology


    Preferred qualifications:

    • Certified CLASS Observer (UE or other age group)
    • Teaching experience in grades 4 or 5
    • Deep conceptual understanding of the CLASS, including:
      • ability to clearly describe CLASS dimensions
      • ability to connect a variet of teacher-student interactions to CLASS dimensions
